Trust in the business world has eroded to unprecedented levels. One of the only areas it has increased is face-to-face events.

Skift Meetings, an event company, wrote an article recently on the meetings industry aided by Edelman Data and Intelligence, a research firm that studies trust. Following are some key points.
- In-person events are the most trustworthy source of information. 77% of respondents say they trust brands more after interacting at live events. 20 to 44 years old, known as next-gen event goers, trust events as information sources more than the government and media.
- “There have been so many conversations about recession, and the survey data reveals that if a company needs to cut its budget, events are not the place to cut,” said Mickey Wilson, CMO at Freeman, an event company. Now that’s music to our ears!
- As we navigate a polarized world, events fuel positivity and trust.
- “All generations say they leave events with greater trust. ‘Events are more important for all, as face-to-face interaction is an effective way to build trust’.”
